about

Grigor Narekatsi was a 10th century Armenian monk, theologian, poet and a musician, often called the greatest “theological, mystical and literary figure of Armenian culture.” Best known for his “Book of Lamentations,” a volume of religious poetry and prayers, he also composed religious songs and melodies. Among his musical compositions were free-flowing, ornate melodies called “Tagh” and Havoon-Havoon m, a Tagh to resurrection has survived to our days.

Svetlana Sahakyan sang in the Armenian State Academic Choir for four decades, stepping with them on the most coveted stages worldwide. Currently retired from the choir, she still actively sings as a soloist in churches in her native Yerevan, Armenia.
